Ok, so "Rear Window" is THE best Alfred Hitchcock film....ever. I'm sorry, but as much as I love "Rebecca", "Notorious", or even "The Foreign Correspondent", they do not compare with Hitchcock's 1954 masterpiece. I guess I am a bit biased because the famous dress Grace Kelly wore in her first scene of the film I copied for my prom dress a few years back! (and ignore that silly boy to my left in the pic!) Anywhooo, back to the review.

This film is about L.B. Jeffries, played by James Stewart, who is a professional photographer and has been stuck in
a cast for the past 6 weeks. The only thing that passes the time is looking
out his rear window to see what all his neighbors are up to. However,
he ends up getting too close to a neighbor when he suspiciously believes his neighbor murdered his wife. Grace Kelly plays Lisa Freemont, a Harper's Bazaar glamour girl and Jeffries' girlfriend. Though Jeffries doesn't feel they are right for each other, it's the murder mystery of his neighbor that ultimately brings them together.
What I love most about this film is the way Hitchcock shoots it. Everything is shot from Jeffries' rear window. You see the neighbors the way Jeffries sees them. And Hitchcock let's the audience see something about the suspected murderer that Stewart's character does not see. If no one has seen a Hitchcock film, and I KNOW that's impossible (I hope!), make this the first one. Hitchcock was at the top of his career in Hollywood at the point, and I don't believe he ever faltered. Enjoy!
