Laura 1944

Time for a another film review!

Today, I've chosen to write about one of Gene Tierney's best films. Laura, from 1944, is about a young woman who is mistakenly thought to have been murdered, and a young detective who tries to solve the case. Detective Mark McPherson, played by Dana Andrews, secretly falls in love with Laura as he tries to solve the murder. However, Laura suddenly appears to be alive and well after-all, which creates huge controversy an
d confusion. Clifton Webb as Waldo Lydecker and Vincent Price as Shelby Carpenter are the men who love Laura and are vying for her attention.

What I love most about this film is how underrated it is. Some people today find it amusing and do not take it seriously as film noir. Though I do agree there are some funny bits in this film that are not supposed to be so, it is a great example of Hollywood cinema of this time - dark, moody, and dramatically romantic. Sometimes a girl needs a little romance in her life, and Laura does the trick.

So, please take the time to enjoy this film. It's fabulous!

Ciao!
